Writers Open Mic ft. Stephen Wilger

    Upcoming Event Wednesday, June 17, 2026 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm @ Art’s Cafe

Have you ever wondered what your writing would sound like as a song, or look like as a doodle? Then please join us for this special open mic night! As you read, musician Stephen Wilger will “translate” your piece into music and an artist (TBD) will turn it into a drawing. Plan to read for about five minutes (roughly the length of a song). If you have questions please email scanicole01@gmail.com.

Stephen Wilger is a guitarist and singer who began playing around the Buffalo area since 2004 when he was a member of local rock bands Fat Apple and the Gadflies. More recently, Stephen has been focusing on writing his own material and performing as a solo musician.

    Fra/ctured String Quartet

    Fra/ctured String Quartet

    Upcoming Event Saturday, July 18, 2026 7:00 pm @ Art’s Cafe

Who is America? The Fra/ctured String Quartet is presented by Buffalo Toronto Public Media.

A string quartet formed in the summer of 2022, Fra/ctured is inspired by the idea of different music communities existing within close proximity, the sometimes unwillingness to explore these communities, and the courage it takes to cross those boundaries and explore something new. This program will explore American classical music, and the composers that have used their voices, as well as the voices of others, to shape the American music landscape in ways that have pushed many boundaries. We’ll hear from composers including Samuel Coleridge Taylor, Jessie Montgomery, Rhiannan Ghiddens, and an arrangement of a piece by Charles Ives by Fra/ctured violinist Evan Courtin. In honor of the 250th anniversary of the birth of the nation, the group explores themes that offer a different perspective on who built this country, and who America is now. BTPM Classical Live On Stage is made possible by funding from the Cullen Foundation and by our BTPM members. RESERVE YOUR FREE SEAT HERE, or call 716-592-9038.

Miss Karyn is the children’s programming assistant at the Springville library for which she leads weekly story times, and a pre-k assistant teacher. She enjoys rock star status to those under 5, and fully accepts that a quick trip to Walmart might last three hours depending on how many current or former students and their families she runs into. She is honored that so many families treasure story time and being able to witness children begin their reading adventures is truly magical.
